A gene is a length of DNA that contains the instructions to make a chemical in your body. The DNA in a gene usually codes for a protein.
In our cells, proteins are the workforce; they get everything done. Proteins break down our food to release energy. Proteins organise the transport of useful chemicals between cells. Often, these useful chemicals are themselves proteins.
As well as doing things, proteins are the building blocks for most of your body. In the same way that a wall is made mostly of bricks, your body is made mostly of protein.
We talk about genes having different characteristics. For instance, if you hear about 'genes for eye colour', it means that these genes code forprotein pigments in the iris of each of our eyes. Genes can come in different versions. Some people's versions code for proteins that make their eyes look blue while other people's versions make proteins that make their eyes look brown.
The genetic code is the set of rules by which information encoded in genetic material (DNA ormRNA sequences) is translated into proteins (amino acid sequences) by living cells. The code defines a mapping between tri-nucleotide sequences, called codons, and amino acids. With some exceptions,[1] a triplet codon in a nucleic acid sequence usually specifies a single amino acid. Because the vast majority of genes are encoded with exactly the same code ), this particular code is often referred to as the canonical or standard genetic code, or simplythe genetic code, though in fact there are many variant codes. Thus the canonical genetic code is not universal. In humans, for example, protein synthesis in mitochondria relies on a genetic code that varies from the standard genetic code.
Not all genetic information is stored using the genetic code. All organisms' DNA contains regulatory sequences, intergenic segments, and chromosomal structural areas that can contribute greatly to phenotype. Those higher-level or epigenetic elements operate under sets of rules that are distinct from the codon-to-amino acid paradigm underlying the genetic code.
A recent discovery by scientists exploring the mysteries of human and animal DNA strands has left some people in high academic circles surprised.
What they discovered is that large segments of DNA in humans are identical to the strands found in all other world mammals.
Once called “junk DNA” because researchers examining the gene codes in humans found no use for it, the name has been changed to “mystery DNA” segments. While they appear important to both man and beast, genome scientists say they don’t yet know why.
This implies that the code is so vital that it was not changed even after millions of years of evolution, according to an article in the journal Science.
The article said a team of scientists at University of California, led by David Haussler, compared the genome sequences of man, mouse and rat. They discovered that several great stretches of DNA were identical in not only these species, but also in dogs, chickens and even fish.
“It absolutely knocked me off my chair,” Haussler said.
The double-stranded DNA molecule contains from 25,000 to 30,000 genes that cells use as templates to start the production of proteins.
The structure of the DNA strand is comprised of chemical compounds that in themselves split into as many as 3 billion base pairs within the cells of mammals. Obviously, things get pretty complex the deeper scientists look within the human and animal cell.
What has confused researchers is that many of these so-called “mystery DNA” regions do not appear to code for production of protein. This is why they were once thought to be junk, or unimportant parts of the code. Some suggested it was just “useless padding,” Haussler said.
But finding the same strands in all mammals is making the scientific community rethink its original concept.
Obviously the function of these strands “is clearly of great importance,” the article said. It suggests that any change would have damaged the animal’s ability to survive.
Not only does the similarity in DNA support the concept of evolutionary change and development on this planet, it also makes it clear that humans are unique beings that occupy the bodies of earth animals.
Not all of the human DNA matches the DNA code of the dog, rat, chicken and fish. There is something unique in us. We believe some of these changes were added by our progenitor, Lucifer, thousands of years ago.
While the primate humanoid body was already successfully designed by the Mother Earth before Lucifer’s arrival, that body was occupied by an animal mind. It had basic left-brain survival knowledge and lived like an animal.
Once the alien arrived, and altered the DNA of these early primates, we were turned into humans almost overnight.
Thus, in a sense, we are aliens occupying the bodies of earth animals. We are all children of Lucifer.
Scientists may soon unravel the mystery of the “Uralian alien,” a tiny creature found near the town of Kyshtym in the Urals. Scientists carried out five series of laboratory studies investigating the DNA samples of the creature’s biological material.
The latest study conducted by a Moscow-based Institute of Forensic Medicine produced sensational results.
“A gene discovered in the DNA samples doesn’t correspond with any genes pertaining to humans or anthropoid apes,” said Vadim Chernobrov, a coordinator with the public research center Kosmopoisk. “No gene samples available at the laboratory match the gene. The experts in DNA research haven’t come across any creatures with such an elongated DNA molecule,” Chernobrov added.
Scientists have been looking for an explanation of the Kyshtym phenomenon for more than ten years. The story began in the summer of 1996 after a miniature creature was found in the Chelyabinsk region. The find was soon dubbed the “Kyshtym alien.” A local medical examiner who performed an autopsy concluded that the dead body was neither human nor animal in nature.
Ufologists regarded the Kyshtym dwarf as a clear-cut case of the extraterrestrial. The clergy believe the dwarf was a demon. The creature was still alive when it was found by an old and barely literate woman. She was the only one who gave the dwarf a human name – Alioshenka (a diminutive of the Russian name “Alexei” – ed. note).
